oh my god i have a story about those teen kidnapping businesses. a cousin of mines old dorm-mate smoked weed a few times when she was smoke 16/17 and her uber rich and “important” parents found out and shelled out i think upwards of $10,000 to have her kidnapped in the middle of the night. like 4 huge men came into her room and took her at like 3 in the morning and she was taken to this like drug boot camp. where they. take everything away from you, you’re given bare necessities (not even) to survive (like a water filter/purifier, and some hunting tools, and i think 2 days worth of food) and then have to hike through the woods back to like the camp base (which would take a week). she watched two people in her group die (a highlight of the camp!!! this was literally a positive thing that your kid may not survive!!). she stared at their convulsing bodies as they died from water poisoning because they did not filter the water properly. she still has ptsd and trauma from it, she couldn’t sleep with the lights off and she was never really okay after that. thankfully i don’t think this camp is in business anymore but still. capitalism really just fucking runs wild with profiting off of human suffering
that’s horrific and i’ve heard many stories like it. the fact that so many of these places are still in business is terrifying too. like, you can look them up and the first google page doesn’t even mention abuse, it’s all pretty pictures and stories about how awesome the therapy is.
capitalism is truly a cancer on humanity, turning people into the worst versions of themselves for profit.
