I’m gonna look this up. And if the US got a new state today, and I found out on tumblr, I’m gonna go outside and scream.
HOLY FUCK Washington DC is gonna be a state. Imma go outside and scream now.
it’s not passed through in the senate yet (as of 4/22/21), but the house passed a bill to make it a state. the importance of this is huge, both because it’s super blue, but also because it deserves representation for it’s nearly 700,000 residents
Fingers crossed for DC. If it passes I’m gonna be so happy for them. They’ve been fighting for this for so long.

I was a journalism major, once upon a time. When political groups have to release news they don’t like, they traditionally do so on Fridays, because on the weekends people aren’t looking so hard at the news. It lets them bury the story more easily.
